Are you looking for a job or even open to new professional opportunities? So you need to know how useful it is to have an up-to-date CV on hand.
An effective CV is complete in terms of your experiences of course, but there is another section that you can work on: that of your skills.
What is a “skills” section?
This is a small space on your CV where you group together the skills useful for the position you are seeking.
A section where you can talk about your mastery of languages or computers, for example.
Nothing obliges you to make a paving stone just for these few lines. This is especially true if you already detail your missions and achievements in the list of your experiences. It is up to you to assess whether this adds value to your applications. This allows you to include a certain number of key skills requested in a job offer, for example.
For certain sectors, discussing your skills is essential (IT, graphics, etc.).
Finally, this section has another advantage: on a sparse CV of a young graduate or young worker, it is interesting to highlight it.
Where to place this section? What shape should you give it and what should you put in it?
Concerning the place of the “Skills” section, you have the choice: under the experiences or in a column on the right, it is up to you.
Just remember that your professional experience must have priority and appear at the top of your CV.
